Good morning!
πTodayβs Clue: Find the site of the building that is no longer standing. Its former patrons ate popcorn while protesters were outside, peacefully demanding.
π Day 9: The Jake Gaither House
π΅π½ Clue: Search for the home of the Football Legend who joined FAMU in 1937.
The Jake Gaither House was once the residence of Jake Gaither, the legendary head coach at Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University, who posted a 203-36-4 record from 1945 to 1969. He also accumulated one of the gameβs all-time best-winning percentages (.844) and won 22 conference titles and six Black College Football National Championships. He was known for his mantra: βI want my players to be mobile, agile, and hostile.β
Cornelius Jones, who restored the home and opened it as a museum, originally planned to flip it until he realized who it belonged to. Jones personally restored the house and filled it with Gaitherβs preserved memorabilia. The museum opened in 2019.
See you tomorrow,
